Trading bots
A bot runs one saved strategy on the symbols you choose, as a paper bot or a live bot. Create it from a strategy, check that it is ready, then start it.
Create a bot
On the Bots page (Create bot), or by asking Jarvis, choose the strategy, the exchange and market, the symbols, the position sizing and the money the bot may use: an allocation from your paper balance, or a capital allocation on your exchange account for live trading. Your plan limits how many paper and live bots you run and how many coins they trade at once.
Spot bots trade long only; futures bots follow the strategy's direction.
Go live
A bot goes live through the go-live review on its page:
- Every readiness check must pass. A failed check shows its fix.
- Choose the capital allocation. A part of the exchange account's available balance, the allocation reserve of 2%, is never used by live allocations.
- Confirm. The server checks everything again.
Every live start sends you an alert, which cannot be turned off. While the platform is in beta, the number of live bots running across all users is capped (see below): a start above the cap is refused with a message, and running bots are never stopped by it.
Run, change and stop
- Start and stop a bot at any time. Stop and close also closes its positions.
- Stop a bot before you edit its settings or switch a live bot to paper. Its live trades stay in Results.
- When you save a new version of its strategy, review the changes and choose whether the bot adopts it.
- Deleting a live bot keeps its trades, orders and fills in Results; deleting a paper bot removes everything it did.
A strategy can set a cooldown: after an exit, its bots then wait that many candles before a new entry on the same symbol.
Idle pause
When you have not been active for the number of days your plan sets (Idle pause after, in the plan comparison), your running bots pause: paper bots stop, live bots stop opening new entries. Open positions are never closed by this. You are warned 1 day before. Resume your bots from the Live page.
Why does my bot not open new trades?
Common reasons: STOP ALL may still block new entries (Resume new entries on the Live page); your maximum daily loss may be reached (Risk management); the market data may be stale; the bot may be paused while you were away; or your plan may have ended (see Plans & billing).
